SKIN CARE AND MAKE-UP I recommend a chemical detox as part of your fertility journey. There are a few brands out there that pass muster on being natural, free of synthetic fragrance and suspected hormone disrupting man-made chemicals, but not as many as you may think. Many pass themselves off as 'organic' but did you know that the designation 'organic' in beauty products is not as stringent as it is for food? Only 1% organic material is required to bear the name 'organic' in beauty products. So watch out for that one. I adore Neals Yard Remedies; not only are they ethical in every way I can think of - right down to the ink they use on their labels - but they are Soil Association Certified Organic, so, proper organic. And of course cruelty free, never tested on animals, made here in the UK, and free from GMO, Nano, Parabens, Pthalates, Silicones, and of course synthetic fragrance and colours. Their plant ingredients are either 1) Organic, 2) Natural (like water, which can't be certified organic because it's not farmed) or 3) Wild sourced. The skin absorbs about 60% of what we put on it (think hormone or nicotine patches) so best err on the side of caution, and clean up your bathroom cupboards.
You can shop for Neal's Yard skin care and makeup via my shop here. Or if you are a regular client, I can add your shopping list to my group order, saving you the postage, and have it for you to collect at your session.
MENSTRUAL HYGIENE Consider buying organic cotton disposable sanitary options so you're not risking putting chemicals straight on your mucous membranes. If you are also concerned about waste being flushed into our oceans, or clogging up landfill, consider some re-useable options. Washable / re-usable cloth pads are coming back into fashion, and menstrual cups are making headlines for their eco-friendly credentials. I am an affiliate seller for Mooncup.
